Privacy Policy
This website is run for taking takeaway orders. We collect the minimum needed to cook and hand over your food, we never sell your details, and we run no advertising or tracking.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Piotr Raczynski, trading as Adam's Kitchen Takeaway, 16 High Street, Hawick TD9 9EH — phone 01450 218090.
What we collect and why
- Your name and phone number — so the kitchen can identify your order and call you if there is a problem. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- Delivery address and postcode (delivery orders only) — to check you are inside our delivery area and to deliver. Legal basis: performing our contract.
- Your order and its total — to prepare it, and afterwards as part of the business records we are legally required to keep. Legal basis: contract, then legal obligation (accounting).
- Anything you type in the notes box — shown to the kitchen as written. If you choose to mention an allergy or other health information there, we use it solely to prepare your food safely, on the basis of you volunteering it; for anything allergy-related, please also call us before ordering.
Who processes it for us
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the order database.
- Stripe processes card payments when you pay online — your card number goes directly to Stripe and never reaches us. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.
- postcodes.io receives only your postcode (nothing else) to work out the distance for delivery orders.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this site, which means your browser requests them from Google's servers when a page loads.
We do not sell or share your details with anyone else, and we send no marketing.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as part of the accounting records the business must hold for tax purposes — up to six years — and are then deleted. We do not build customer profiles or marketing lists from them.
Cookies and storage on your device
There are no advertising or analytics cookies. Your basket is saved in your own browser's storage so it survives a page reload — it stays on your device. One session cookie exists solely for restaurant staff logging into the order hub.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it (unless we must keep it for tax records), and object to how it is used. Call 01450 218090 or ask in the restaurant. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
